The Power of Mentorship: NUS Business Graduate Jeshua Koh Shares the Role Mentorship Played in his Success

Singapore – September 30, 2021 – Graduating from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Finance), Jeshua has always been interested in challenging the status quo and believes that the first few years of one’s career are integral to achieving success. This mindset has helped him in his academic endeavours, graduating from NUS with first class honours and securing a job in the banking industry upon graduation.

Serving as a mentor to various juniors, Jeshua has always been passionate about bridging the information asymmetry and sharing his knowledge and adding value to as many people as possible. This motivated him to publish an article on LinkedIn which reached over 3,000 views where he shared the lessons he learnt over the 4 years of his tertiary education.

This passion stems from the fact that Jeshua has been a beneficiary of mentorship himself and attributes his success to the advice his mentor provided him when it came to both academics and internships. This is why he wants to pay it forward and help the future generation.

“Unfortunately, the people who need advice often find themselves in the company of others that are just as clueless as them,” he says “and the people with advice to give often have no avenues to interact with the people actually in need of help.” He believes that providing a roadmap is essential to provide people with a headstart in an increasingly competitive business environment and feels that building this community of like-minded people would be beneficial to all parties involved.

When asked about his plans for the future, Jeshua answered that he is looking to build a community in Singapore through a mentorship program and hopes that this initiative would help aspiring students with more clarity in terms of paving their career roadmap and reduce the avoidable mistakes in their individual journeys.

A quote by John C. Maxwell sums up Jeshua’s vision, “One of the greatest values of mentors is the ability to see ahead what others cannot see and to help them navigate a course to their destination.”
