RS KOREA Launches LTE-Based Multi-Gas Detectors with Free IoT Functionality

RS KOREA, a company specializing in industrial safety and gas detection equipment, is drawing attention from industrial sectors with the launch of its new LTE-based multi-gas detectors featuring free IoT functionality.

The newly introduced products include the portable IoT gas detector EDW500 and the fixed-type IoT gas detector GLD500, both designed to support the establishment of more efficient smart safety management systems across various industrial environments, including confined spaces.

As industrial safety regulations continue to strengthen and awareness of accident prevention increases, the importance of real-time gas monitoring and proactive response systems has become more prominent in industrial workplaces. In particular, the need to monitor the five key gases—oxygen (O₂), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), carbon dioxide (CO₂), and combustible gases (LEL)—in confined space operations has increased, leading to growing interest in smart safety management solutions that combine multi-gas detectors with IoT technology.

According to RS KOREA, conventional industrial IoT systems have mainly utilized LoRa, RF, and BLE communication methods. However, in actual industrial environments, operational limitations such as communication failures, signal interference, and the need for gateways and repeaters have often been encountered. Although LTE-based IoT systems are also being used in some applications, many sites have hesitated to adopt them due to ongoing operating costs such as monthly subscription fees and communication charges.

To reduce these operational burdens and improve usability, the company planned a new line of multi-gas detectors supporting LTE-based IoT services with free USIM cards, aiming to provide a more stable and practical solution for industrial users.

The products were developed based on field requirements identified through long-term analysis of the gas detection and environmental instrumentation markets by RS KOREA CEO Choi Bo-wee. The company stated that it collaborated with WANDI while considering factors such as management convenience, operational efficiency, and cost reduction for industrial users, resulting in a lineup of portable and fixed gas detectors suitable for a wide range of industrial safety applications.

The EDW500 and GLD500 can measure more than 40 different gases and support simultaneous monitoring of up to five gases. As a result, they can be utilized in a variety of working environments, including toxic gas monitoring, confined space gas measurement, and gas monitoring around industrial equipment and facilities. The company noted that users can respond to diverse monitoring requirements with a single device, improving operational practicality.

The portable EDW500 is designed to be carried directly by workers and can be used for gas concentration checks before, during, and after confined space entry, worker safety management, and general site inspection tasks. Through the DCMS cloud service connected via LTE communication, users can remotely monitor gas readings and alarm status. The device also supports GPS tracking, helping users identify equipment location and worker movement routes. In addition, it has obtained international explosion-proof certification, making it suitable for industrial environments where explosion-proof requirements apply.

The fixed-type GLD500 is designed for permanent installation around specific areas or equipment, enabling 24-hour continuous gas monitoring. By connecting to external display boards, workers can check gas concentrations and alarm conditions before entering monitored areas. Through the free DCMS cloud platform, gas readings and alarm status can also be monitored remotely from offices, control rooms, and other locations.

These capabilities make the product suitable for facilities requiring continuous gas monitoring, including wastewater treatment facilities, chemical processes, research facilities, underground spaces, and equipment rooms.

Both products are connected to the DCMS cloud platform through LTE communication and provide free IoT functionality. RS KOREA stated that it has adopted a “Three-Free Policy” consisting of free USIM cards, free communication service, and free cloud platform access, helping reduce users’ operational costs.

The platform provides real-time gas monitoring, alarm confirmation, measurement data logging, Excel and PDF report downloads, mailing services, and device management functions, contributing to improved digital management efficiency in industrial safety environments.

The EDW500 has obtained international explosion-proof certification, while the GLD500 is currently undergoing the relevant certification process. The company expects that operating both portable and fixed-type products together will allow users to manage mobile workers and fixed monitoring zones simultaneously, helping establish a more flexible gas safety management system suited to individual site requirements.

Choi Bo-wee, CEO of RS KOREA, said, “We are focused on providing IoT gas detection and multi-gas monitoring solutions that are easy and practical for industrial users to operate in the field. We will continue to expand technologies related to gas measurement, toxic gas monitoring, and real-time monitoring to support safer industrial environments.”
